We love a good power lunch (among other phrases utilizing that wonderful adjective).
But too often these lunches are overly expensive or in stodgy restaurants haunted by the ghosts of fat cats past. Not at Texas Spice.
They recently launched new weekday blue plate specials to showcase their fancy new blue dinnerware (clever, right?), but also serve up some delectable Texas vittles.
The chefs invited us in last weekend to try out the specials and these guys have created some mid-day masterpieces. The selections will change with the seasons, but will likely feature the same protein type each day of the week.
For now, the daily specials are:
Monday: Scotch Egg Meatloaf
Tuesday: Roasted Half Chicken
Wednesday: Crab Cakes (pictured)
Thursday: BBQ Spiced Brisket
Friday: Grilled Minute Steak
Each plate is just $16 and includes a small salad, fresh vegetable and a starch of some sort. It’s a surprisingly huge amount of food for the money.
Plus, they come with a sweet treat at the end. If you’re lucky (or just demanding of your server), the chocolate chip cookie is one of the best we’ve ever tasted.
So forget everything you’ve ever thought about power lunches, or blue plate specials for that matter, and head to one of our favorite downtown restaurants.
Call ahead to book a room, though. Because you’re gonna want to be alone with that cookie.
