Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Dysfunction Junction

Laughing at other people’s problems: That pretty much occupies the majority of our day (at least when we’re not volunteering at animal rescues and foreign orphanages).

But it’s also what you’ll do for a couple hours when you take in the regional premiere of The Lyons, produced by Uptown Players at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

Opening tonight, the comedy by Nicky Silver stars Terry Vandivort, Georgia Clinton, Austin Tindle, Kristen McCullough, Christopher Deaton and Lisa Anne Haram in a tale about a New York family at a time of crisis. The family patriarch is dying of cancer and quite literally on his deathbed, but he and his wife haven’t told their adult children, one a single mom, the other a gay writer, each of whom will hear the news for the first time when they arrive at the hospital.

Oh, and Mom has secretly hated Dad for the 40 years they’ve been together.

Devastatingly witty and deliciously dark, The Lyons is another perfect fit for Uptown Players.

And a great distraction from your own regularly scheduled problems.
