Of all the things you plan to straddle this Memorial Day, make sure at least one of them is a Schwinn. Because Dallas is hosting its first large-scale Ciclovía on Monday.
The event, which started more than 30 years ago in Bogota, Colombia, turns major city streets into open, car-free environments for runners, cyclists, mamas with strollers and clowns on pogo sticks to safely play.
Cedar Springs Road will be closed between the Katy Trail and Klyde Warren Park for a one-mile stretch of car-free traffic between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The free event is a fantastic way to get some outdoor exercise without fear of getting plowed down by a Prius or mowed over by a Mercedes.
Plus, wearing those tight bicycle shorts is the surest way known to gay man to secure a date.
They don’t call it free advertising for nothin’.
