Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Big & Thickette

A drag queen that sings is like winning the lotto: You don’t think it will ever happen, but when it does, your entire life changes.

Get ready to have your world sufficiently rocked this Sunday at Miss Big Thickette, a fundraiser featuring members of the Turtle Creek Chorale in glorious wigs, fancy shoes and magnificent frocks. They may not be pretty, but oh, do they have talent.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Turtle Creek Chorale and AIDS Arms.

Contestants aren’t allowed to lip sync, so all singing is done live. Years past have seen performances that incorporate birdhouse building, tater tot casserole cooking and a retelling of the story of Noah’s Ark with figurines. That means pretty much anything goes, which makes things that much more exciting—and hilarious.

The winner is crowned based on total dollars received in tips, so bring plenty of ones, fives, tens and twenties. And a few Sacagawea gold dollars.

Because those are much more fun to drop into a pair of tight, sweaty pantyhose.
