Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Art Of The Insult

It’s amazing what one can miss while on vacation. We try to disconnect from media in its entirety when we travel because that’s our only time to escape from the constant barrage of pop culture and world news information we receive on a daily basis.

Sometimes, though, we miss out on things that should totally be on our radar.

We’re finally getting back to our routine after a lengthy holiday at the beginning of the month and we just today discovered Vicious. You may already know about it, but in case you don’t, or have yet to watch, we implore you to start now.

This charming-but-scathing Britcom stars Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as Freddie and Stuart, a couple celebrating nearly 50 years together. Stuart has yet to come out to his mother and Freddie is flirting with the hot young man who just moved in upstairs. These are just two of the many things the couple fight about in a battle of insults and snide comments at each other’s expense.

It’s a multi-camera comedy with a studio audience and a decidedly British vibe that feels old-school in presentation, but entirely contemporary in tone and topic.

You can catch up on various PBS sites, apps and online streaming services or just start with Episode 4 this Sunday. (Pretty sure you’ll get up-to-speed quickly.)

Of course, if you’d rather binge-watch this show, it’s already available on DVD.

Buy it and you’ll get your PBS donation out of the way at the same time.

Sure beats a mug or tote bag.

New episodes Sundays. Check local listings for time.
