We’re not gamblers, really. Unless the stakes are low and the pay-off is big. Then deal us in.
That’s exactly why we’ll be dusting off our Blackjack for Dummies book and putting on our lucky Ace of Spades cufflinks for The Heat of the Night fundraising event for Legal Hospice of Texas tomorrow night.
The casino-themed event is one of two major fundraisers for the organization, with plenty of Vegas-style games, a silent auction and raffle drawing. It’s just fifty bucks to get in (far less than we typically lose in 30 minutes at a slot machine) and the prizes are fantastic.
That means you could walk away with a two nights’ stay from Omni Hotels, a suite at a Texas Rangers game (we’re pretty sure that’s a baseball team) for you and 11 friends or an underwear prize package from the awesome Marek+Richard, just to name three of the ones we’ve got our eyes on.
All proceeds benefit the work of Legal Hospice of Texas, a nonprofit law firm providing timely and compassionate legal services at no charge to low income individuals who are terminally ill or HIV positive.
It’s the only time you’ll ever be in a casino environment where everyone wins.
Even if you leave empty-handed.
