Before Tiger Woods stole the spotlight, we were considered the premiere golfer of our generation.
Sure, it was miniature golf.
And sure, the only person who considered us a champion was our mom after witnessing first-hand that proud moment when we skillfully knocked our ball up a ramp, into the mouth of a mechanical T-Rex, out his butt and through the blades of a windmill before bouncing off the back barrier and into the hole in a single stroke.
We’ll always remember the zesty flavor of the victory nachos we enjoyed at the snack bar afterward. And we’ll never part with the “Hole Master” T-shirt she bought us as a trophy.
This weekend, you too can taste sweet success at the Team Clover Open, a pub crawl that includes one hole of golf at various establishments, including Jr’s Bar & Grill, TMC, Sue Ellen’s, Woody’s Sports Bar, the Round-Up, Alexandre’s, Hunky’s and ilume.
Get together a team of four and register. It’s only $80 per team in advance ($100 day of event) and you can bring your own balls and putters or use the ones provided. All proceeds benefit LifeWalk and its partner agencies.
If you’re not as skilled at golf as we are, don’t worry. You can still walk away a winner in the categories of Best Outfits (theme time!) or Best of Show.
But if you gather a foursome of mini-golf pros, your team could walk away with the $1,000 first prize sponsored by Triangle Payment Systems, Inc., and Miller Lite.
It’s a rewarding afternoon of golf and good deeds.
Or as we like to call it, “Fore!” play.
