Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Spoon With Us

OK, Old Man Winter. Enough already. Your sub-freezing temps and blustery winds were cute for a day or two, but we’re ready for a little global warming.

But because we’re a bowl-half-full type of guy, we’re looking on the positive side of chilly days and colder nights. First, we embrace the rare chance to sport our knockoff-Gucci ear muffs.

Second, it’s the time of year when we embrace our inner senior citizen to indulge in soup every chance we get. It’s not unusual for us to order three cups of bisque, chowder and consommé at a single seating, either.

So it should come as no surprise that one of our favorite wintry events is the Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale, ladling its way into the Omni Dallas Tuesday, January 20.

Chaired by Chef Brian C. Luscher (The Grape), the nooner features signature soups created by chefs Bruno Davaillon (The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek), Omar Flores (Casa Rubia), Chad Houser (Café Momentum), Danyele McPherson (Remedy) Matt McCallister (FT33), Chad Kelley (Café Pacific), Janice Provost (Parigi), Abraham Salum (Salum), Oliver Sitrin (The Blind Butcher), Sarah Snow (The Grape) and Donald Chalko (Omni Dallas).

Country music singer/songwriter Jimmy Wayne is the keynote speaker and an art auction will be held during the event, as well. Proceeds benefit the Stewpot Alliance’s mission to provide meals and other services to the homeless and other at-risk people.

The cost is a bit more than a can of Campbell’s, but this is some darn good, do-good soup.

Slurp’s up, dudes!
