Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Nifty, Thrifty

We don’t like digging through piles of stuff at thrift stores to find treasures.

That’s how we got herpes on our middle finger.

But there’s a thrift store experience kicking off in Dallas tonight that we can’t wait to be a part of. It’s a pop-up shop called Thrift Studio by Dwell with Dignity, an organization that helps families rise above poverty & homelessness.

Tonight’s preview party gets you the first chance to score designer items showcased in vignettes throughout the space. And hobnob with a group of fashion-forward peeps that probably rarely set foot in the kind of thrift stores we’ve been to.

Plus, you’ll have the chance to purchase raffle tickets for a dream bed, featuring a custom upholstered headboard by Grazzini Furniture, Dormeo mattress & pillows all luxuriously wrapped in Peacock Alley linens and topped with a box of chocolates.

If you can’t make tonight’s party, simply head over any time between tomorrow and May 23. Shop soon for best selection, of course.

It’s retail therapy that makes someone else feel better, too.

That never happens at IKEA.

Little Orff Uncanny

Few works of musical artistry propel us to such heights of emotional enlightenment as Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. (Except maybe Mackelmore’s Thrift Shop. We love 99¢ bargains!) But back to Carmina Burana, the epic 1930s classical orchestration of a collection of poems and dramatic texts from the 11th to 13th centuries. There’s something about every note in this work that […]

‘Chaun Job

We’ve been granted three wishes. And they all involve Houston-based entrepreneur Jake Schiffer (above). Sigh. But because we know we should focus on actually attainable wishes, instead we’ll turn the power of magic toward more realistic endeavors. Like having 600 cases of Leprechaun Premium Hard Cider delivered to our pool party this weekend. That’s about how much we could drink […]
