Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Sleeping Around Dallas: Staycation HQ

dal-07_13_15Arlington is Dallas-Fort Worth’s biggest playground.

Six Flags Over Texas. Hurricane Harbor. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Lone Star Park. Some place they play football. Some place they play baseball.

But depending on where you live, Arlington can be quite the drive. Parking can be costly. And Uber just as much.

So why not schedule a weekend in Arlington and knock several things off your entertainment to-do list while keeping a comfortable home base?

dal-07_13_15-2That’s just what we did early this summer, setting up camp in a junior suite at the Hilton Arlington. The room was spacious and well-appointed, plus the property is close enough to hear the screams from the Titan roller coaster when sitting on the patio at R Bar & Grill with an ice-cold draft beer and some killer tacos.dal-07_13_15You’ll also be a short drive from the new-to-the-area location of world-famous Gino’s East for some of the best deep dish pizza around. One bite took us back to our first visit to the iconic Chicago location.

We even ventured out to Arlington’s lone gay bar, 1851 Club and had a blast. There’s a definite neighborhood vibe, similar to Barbara’s Pavilion in Oak Cliff. Plus, everyone was friendly and eager to meet the “new faces” in town, which isn’t always the case in some Dallas bars.

So whatever adventures you enjoy, an Arlington staycation is a welcome change of pace.

And a chance to view an entirely new profile grid on Grindr.
