We always loved the first day of school.
New beginnings. Reconnecting with friends. Seeing which brand of designer jeans our high-school crush Ronnie would be wearing.
But for many LGBTQ youth, getting back in the classroom is a horribly traumatic experience.
That’s why Resource Center’s Youth First program is such a vital part of our community’s wellbeing.
Serving youth and young adults ages 12-18, Youth First equips them with the skills they need to lead an open life. Family ties are strengthened, peer support networks are built and mental health is supported through activities that build confidence and address the specific issues that LGBTQ teens face during their critical, formative years.
Thursday night, Resource Center’s Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC) is hosting an adults-only event to raise funds for the program. Last year, they raised $7,000.
The goal this year is $15,000.
For a $50 donation, you can enjoy the party at Conduit Gallery, complete with complimentary Stoli cocktails, nibbles, valet parking and music from DJ Brandon Moses.
It’s a great way to kick off the weekend.
And help the next generation of LGBTQ citizens reach their fullest, brightest potential.
