Man, we wish dressing up for Halloween was as easy for us as it is for our dogs.
But pretty sure we’d be judged heavily for throwing on a simple witch’s hat or bedazzled jack-o-lantern neckerchief and calling it a day.
It’s OK, though. We find pups more delightful than most people, so we’re happy to overlook their lack of sewing skills and ability to select ripped-from-the-headlines costume ideas.
Lots of places host doggie costume nights this time of year, but the one with the most bang for our bark is Henry’s Howl-O-Ween. (Mostly because of the super-extended happy hour, but don’t tell our dogs that.)
It all goes down this Sunday at Henry’s Majestic with drink specials from 4:00-11:00 p.m., live music, cheap tacos, and a costume contest for pooches and their parents. The winners of the costume contest will receive a delicious dinner-for-two prize, plus a goodie basket for the four-legged contestant.
Donations of toys, pet food, dog beds, and blankets will be accepted to benefit a local animal shelter.
Yet the best news of all, for non-dog owners and those looking to expand the number of butt-sniffers in the household, is that Paws in the City will be on hand with adorable, adoptable fur balls looking for loving gay parents (every pet’s dream). It’s the Halloween treat that keeps on giving.
