As much as we’d love to be on an actual beach this Sunday (oh wait, we are!), the next-best thing to a tropical vacay for us would be relaxing over a fantastic surf-and-turf platter.
And for a relative bargain? Even better.
We recently dined at Ocean Prime in Uptown for our birthday and we were super-impressed with the steaks and seafood, especially in a town with lots of great options in those categories. But the price tag can be a bit steep if you’re not saving up for a special occasion.
But on Sundays, you can get a deal that’s quite the value compared to regular menu prices.
For $55, the Sunday surf-and-turf special gets you a first course (French onion soup, Caeser or house salad); an eight-ounce Prime filet; your choice of seafood from a list that includes shrimp scampi, crab cakes or sea scallops (pictured above); plus a side dish from a list that includes jalapeño au gratin potatoes (our absolute favorite, by the way), whipped potatoes, truffled mac-and-cheese, broccoli, chophouse corn or creamed spinach.
That’s a lot of extra food for just $14 more than the a-la-care filet on the dinner menu.
Plus, this Monday Ocean Prime will begin offering the same deal Monday through Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. as a Theatre Menu for an ideal way to kick off a night on the town. You’ll even get a bag of truffled popcorn to sneak into the Winspear, Meyerson or Kalita Humphreys.
Just please don’t try to smuggle in leftover shrimp.
We have to draw the line somewhere.
