Simone Says

What we wouldn’t give to find a time machine to go back and see Nina Simone in concert.

Sadly, SpaceX hasn’t started on that technology, but this very minute we’ve decided we no longer even need it.

That’s because the remarkable, talented and flat-out gorgeous Denise Lee will be performing the music of the legendary American singer in a concert tomorrow night at Bishop Arts Theatre Center.

Presented in conjunction with North Texas Giving Day, which we told you about yesterdaythe free event also doubles as a preview of sorts for The Champion, the 25th season-opening play by Amy Evans about The High Priestess of Soul‘s life, debuting in October.

Show up in the lobby by 5:30 p.m. for a reception, then grab a seat in the theater at 6:00 to enjoy the velvety vocal stylings of Denise Lee. While you’re there, you can also make a donation to the theater as part of North Texas Giving Day while seeing the work of the arts group live and in action.

We hope you’ll join us because we never miss an opportunity to see this LGBT community fan favorite belt out a few tunes.

Love a lotta Lee.
