Pastel, Peach & Power

These are my thoughts for this week.  I really don’t care what yours are.

Pastel.  He is Risen!  I am renewed and rejuvenated after celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and ‎Savior this past Sunday.  I saw so few familiar faces at church, as the pews were filled with the ‎C&E Christians who only attend twice a year.  Moreover, this is also the Sunday when fashions ‎turn to more colorful hues and enough white shoes to fill a Pat Boone convention.  But here are ‎the real issues of Christian discourse. When did this Holy Celebration turn from death and ‎resurrection to one of eggs and bunnies? When did bunnies ever lay eggs?  And why are they ‎hiding them anyway?  Did Jesus wear pastel when he sashayed out of the tomb?  And HATS!  ‎He is Risen INDEED!‎

Peach.  Here’s something else that is getting resurrected.  Ever since Brother Dick Nixon was run out of Washington, impeachment proceedings have threatened sitting Presidents like judicial assassins.  I mean, Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about oral sex.  Lord knows there’s NEVER been a committed heterosexual husband who has said to his wife, “Oh no, dear.  I’ve never had better.”  Now impeachment threats are gathering steam against Brother Trump for his behavior chronicled in Bobby Mueller’s book report.  I have no idea what will ultimately happen, but I’d give anything to be able to call Donnie up on the phone to tell him that the Oval Office is going to be repainted in peach……………just to see if he flinches.

Power.  I’ve often reflected on the battles between good and evil.  The Book of Job chronicles how God and Satan seemed to battle for Job’s soul in a game of plagues, illnesses and calamity.  Then there was that time that Lucifer tempted Jesus for 40 days in a desert.  Just mean.  Playing games with lives and souls for pure entertainment value.  I don’t need to see any more of this, nor do I wish to encourage others to promulgate such behavior.  My Lord and Savior is seated on his throne and has conquered death through resurrection.  Satan can sit on his scepter for all I care.  Therefore, I couldn’t care LESS about any other game of thrones making headlines!
