Change never comes easy.
Some people love the idea of starting over while others prefer to keep things status quo forever. That couldn’t be truer of this year’s Dallas Pride celebrations (including the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade), which have moved from September in the gayborhood to June in Fair Park.
We’ve seen plenty of praise and complaints alike and can see valid points on both sides of the issue. But we say, why not give it a chance first then complain or praise later? We actually love the idea of shaking things up because Pride in Dallas had gotten pretty predictable.
At least a change of scenery will put the weekend celebrations in a whole new context.
If you haven’t already started planning your rainbow outfit or what clever phrase to print on a shirt, you have a little more than two weeks left to get your act together.
Of course, there’ll be a lot of parties and events surrounding the official festivities of June 1 and 2, so stay tuned to our just-launched Guide to Dallas Pride 2019, which will be updated as we learn of new events, no matter when they fall on the calendar.
As for the official weekend at Fair Park, let’s go into things with an open mind, y’all.
And pray they open up a corny dog booth or two while they’re at it.
