We’ve never been fond of cold pizza in the morning. No matter how hungover and/or starving we might be.
Hot pizza in the morning? Well, that’s an entirely different story. Especially at North Italia’s spectacular brunch.
We first tried North Italia years ago at the original location in Arizona and loved everything we tried. Who knew this many moons later we’d have not one, but two, locations in North Texas. So when we were invited to the newest outpost at The Union near Victory Park, we jumped at the opportunity.
One of the things we adore most about the brunch menu is the seamless merging of Italian inspiration and breakfast ingredients. Too many places offer up a generic brunch menu that doesn’t reflect the point of view of the restaurant at all other meals. Not here.
Favorites of ours include the bacon and egg pizza (pictured at top), which includes grilled asparagus, rosemary, garlic confit, and roasted potato. Speaking of, if the dish you order does not come with the signature crispy hash potatoes, make sure to add on a side. They might be the best breakfast spuds ever. Ever!
(Side note: An order of lemon donuts should also be procured.)
Another hit is the Nonna casserole (pictured above). Italian sausage and torn ciabatta get tossed in marinara sauce then baked before getting crowned with two fried eggs.
Of course, you can go full Italian and lunchy with pasta dishes galore (all delectable), especially the short rib radiatori that gets a nice kick from fresh horseradish.
If you’re not craving brunch yet, we may need to schedule an intervention.
