There may be no place like home for the holidays, but there’s also nothing quite as nice as finally escaping the family. Especially once Grandma insists on changing channels from the yule log to Fox News.
Fortunately, the weather in Dallas should be gorgeous meaning we have the luxury of bailing on the bonding time, unlike those poor souls who get trapped because of snow and ice. Heck, even if you don’t want to go out-out, you can always take a long, long walk around the neighborhood.
Of course, if that sounds way too boring, here are a few places that will provide you everything you need for a great escape.
The Matzoh Ball at One Sette Whether or not you’re Jewish, a good time is guaranteed at this annual event presented by the JCC. Dancing, a cash bar and not a Santa in sight for a change! 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Christmas Eve with Live Jazzy Christmassy Songs at the Balcony Club Holiday favorites and ice-cold martinis. Sounds like heaven to us! 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Christmas Eve Goat Yoga Leave the old goats at home and do a little downward dog with some actually cute goats. 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Drink the Tree at The Rustic Help the Rustic staff dismantle their beer tree (last year’s pictured above) by drinking all the beer for $3 a pop. Plus, live music from Leighton Fields. 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Christmas Dinner with the Ross & Hall Kitchen Family Chow on $3 tamales and Christmasy side dishes, plus $3 PBR and $5 drink specials. 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Holiday Relative Relief Party at The Local Oak The inspiration for this to-do list came from this very event, so definitely check it out. Food and drink specials in a casual atmosphere? Sign us up! 4:00 p.m. until whenever it ends.
PriMadonna at House of Blues Dance the night away to one of the best Madonna tribute bands in the business. Perhaps “Santa Baby” will make the set list this time! 7:00 p.m.
