One life lesson we learned as kids was that it’s always satisfying to see justice served to a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot. Let’s just hope it happens one day for the current one in the White House and not just Dabney Coleman.
Don’t worry. It’s OK to get political when talking about 9 to 5, a delightful, unashamedly feminist comedy starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton from a screenplay by queer writer Patricia Resnick.
Tonight, CinéWilde at Texas Theatre hosts a screening of the film as a kick-off to 2020: the Year of Lily & Jane! Yep, prepare yourself for a full 12 months of films starring one or the other of the Grace and Frankie duo. (Fingers crossed for Barbarella and All of Me!)
Before the screening, take part in a discussion on the film and its impact on pop culture and well-plotted revenge. Then, after the closing credits roll, join your fellow moviegoers for a champagne toast to these and all women who persist!
Hope they’ve got a huge bottle of bubbly.
