Without great service, we don’t really care how delicious the food may be at a particular restaurant. It’s always a consideration when we recommend a spot for Brunch of the Week (or any restaurant review we post here), but sometimes the service is so above-and-beyond that we genuinely take notice.
Such has been the case on every visit we’ve ever made to Miriam Cocina Latina, whether we were there in an official food-writing capacity or simply in off the street to have a drink and a snack at the bar. (OK, a few drinks and possibly nothing to eat.)
So when we heard that the restaurant’s namesake, the ever-smiling Miriam Jimenez, had recently launched brunch we knew we had to check it out. Known for her great laugh and fondness of hugs, she lights up the room when she enters and it’s a joy to watch her drift from table to table to make every guest feel like a VIP.
The brunch menu features plenty of surprises, too, starting with cocktails ranging from a personal-size flight of mimosas to unique, lychee liqueur-based martinis named after our favorite days of the week: Saturday and Sunday.
Food, of course, is what allows us to drink more, so we worked our way through much of the menu, each dish better than the one before it. Here are three of our favorites because in this instance the pictures do all the work for us.
We invite you to pop in (or better yet, make reservations) to try brunch for yourself and give Miriam a big ol’ hug. You can even take a photo with her and tag it #miriamhugs on Instagram and your photo could make it onto the wall permanently.
Because the only thing we like more than a great brunch is people pointing to photos of us and oohing and aahing about how devastatingly handsome we are.
