Somewhere in town, there are some very happy City of Dallas workers. Because with in-person Pride events canceled for the year, they’ve been spared the tedious task of glitter removal from the streets of Fair Park. But they better start getting prepared for next year because it’s going to be a big, rainbow-hued, sparkly mess when Dallas Pride returns in all its flamboyant glory.
This weekend, however, the postponed Pride events will be taking place online and we’re so excited for the opportunity to be loud and proud—even if it’s only our next-door neighbors hearing us chant about being here, queer and instructed to get used to it.
Dallas Pride organizers have done a fantastic job building a robust lineup of entertainment for Saturday and Sunday. (Full schedule at the end of the story and on the Dallas Pride website.)
Saturday’s main event features headliners including Big Freedia, Ty Herndon and Kristine W for a Pride livestream event hosted by Ron Corning with help from his morning show co-host Jenny Anchondo along with Del Shores beaming in from Los Angeles.
Saturday night, dance a hole in your rug with a DJ party livestream starring Dorian Electra and DJ Deanne.
Sunday, kick things off with a virtual drag brunch with more than a dozen entertainers led by the beloved Marsha Dimes. Then you can drive around town and show off your true colors as part of a very different kind of Pride parade before closing the 2020 chapter on Dallas Pride.
We can’t wait to see how it all works out and hope it’s a huge success. We’ve got our personal stash of feather boas ready and waiting.
