Well, this year, we probably won’t be seeing any family so we’ll be drinking purely for pleasure. And there’s a new bourbon out of Fort Worth that will give you a nice buzz and satisfy your sweet tooth with every sip.
Say hello to Blackland Distillery‘s Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon, a special edition blend so popular that it’s currently only available at the distillery (a fantastic reason to take a quick road trip to Fort Worth).
We got a preview bottle and we’ve been sipping it on the regular over an ice ball ever since the calendar changed to November. As the ice melts, the sweetness mellows and the essence of delicious, fresh-baked pecan pie tantalizes the senses.
We tend to go for less-sweet cocktails in general, so we’ve started doing a 2:1 ratio of Blackland Bourbon Whiskey to Blackland Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon. Pecan Pie Flip
1.5 oz Blackland PBSB
.5 oz Blackland Rye
.5 oz heavy cream
.25 oz demerara syrup
3 drops Vanilla extract
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 whole egg
Combine all and shake hard without ice to emulsify the egg. Add ice and shake again. Fine strain into a coupe glass and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
