We can’t think of a better day than 4/20 to pig out. Like totally pig out.
So we’re thrilled to see the return of Cochon555, a food event that celebrates heritage breed pigs while educating people on them. As you would expect, this year’s local event has gone semi-virtual with a Zoom presentation by Chef John Tesar that includes how to make one of the dishes you’ll be eating as you watch.
To be a part of this culinary fête, you need to place your order by this Friday for pickup on Tuesday, April 20. Meals are available for one or two people and include wine and cocktails, plus a four-course porktastic lineup from Texas farms including crispy pork belly scallops and poblano mole, pig head carnitas, garganelli with wild boar ragout and bacon creme brûlée.
We’re always eager to support Chef Tesar as he’s always lending his talents to support our local LGBTQ community, helping raise a ton of money over the years for DIFFA/Dallas with his annual Burgers + Burgundy event (which hopefully will return soon). Plus, he’s a damn good chef.
Best of all, this particular event raises funds for the restaurants and workers affected by COVID-19-related losses.
So place your orders now, then settle in a week from today and learn a few tasty tidbits about pork while actually tasting some porky bits.
It’s all the fun of a swanky night on the town without the hassle of leaving your house or getting dressed up—except to pick up the food. But you can still do that in shorts and flip-flops.
