We’re terribly unathletic.
We still have PTSD from getting picked last every single time for every single sport in P.E. class.
Except Smear the Queer. Remember that horribly named game? For some reason, we always got picked first for that one. Sheesh.
Our story’s not unique, but for every gay boy who was bullied in school sports, there was probably an equal number of LGBTQ kids who excelled and grew up to be great athletes. And that’s why Born Sports League has been such a popular organization, aiming to make sports a fun, inclusive experience – even for those of us who still can’t catch a ball. (Except the occasional two to the face.)
Next week, the nonprofit group has hired the glorious Alyssa Edwards to headline a fundraiser at the Rose Room. The Thursday, May 20 Haus of Born Sports League event will sell out quickly, so don’t dally.
Grab your tickets now.
They’re only $50 and proceeds benefit Born Sports League and their kickball and volleyball leagues. Seats at tables are first-come, first-serve, so you’ll want to get to the venue early if you don’t want a standing-room-only spot.
Of course, in the spirit of athleticism, you could always lunge in place while you watch Alyssa Edwards work the stage.
When the show ends, the party moves to Woody’s down the street for even more sports-themed fun.
Like doing curls with vodka sodas.
