On RuPaul’s Drag Race, we always get to see the drag superstars-in-the-making au natural, both in the workroom between challenges and during the on-camera confessionals.
Yet so many of our beloved drag queens’ male alter-egos remain a mystery.
Case in point: easily our favorite drag persona on the planet, Miss Richfield 1981 (portrayed by Russ K.), and Simply Barbra (brought to life by Steven Brinberg). This Tuesday, host Joe Posa transforms into Joan Rivers for StreamAlly’s Kibitz Without Ya Tits!, a revealing look at the men who embody these larger-than-life characters during a live show. A rebroadcast will be available to stream Wednesday night, too.
One of the best things about virtual events is getting to see people up-close-and-personal rather than way back in a darkened theater. So you’ll really get to know them well.
Of course, the absolute best part about these two shows is that they’re pay-what-you-can so they’re accessible to everyone.
But you’ll want to donate as much as you can, because a portion of the proceeds from this event will go to God’s Love We Deliver, a favorite charity of the real Joan Rivers. The organization cooks and home-delivers nutritious, medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves.
It’s so nice to see that Rivers’ lesser-publicized humanitarian efforts continue long after her untimely passing.
We’re pretty sure, to paraphrase the queen of comedy herself, she’d be fucking thrilled.
