Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Movie Stars Under The Actual Stars

Remember last year when drive-in movies were all the rage? We still think they’re fantastic fun, but only when we’re allowed to get out of our cars and watch from a lawn chair. Or the hood of the car. Or dangling from a hot air balloon.

Anywhere but the front seat.

We tried watching movies from our car and it was simply the worst because no matter where we sat, the rearview mirror tried to take over the lead role like some evil bitch straight out of All About Eve. And it was wildly uncomfortable.

Well, now there’s a solution that gets everybody out of their cars safely. From the innovators behind Rooftop Cinema Club (creators of the Drive-In at The Central near Cityplace last year), comes Summer Series at Heritage Village.

Selena kicks off the new series this Thursday night and in this new concept, you choose from lounge chairs, love seats, bean bags, or bring your own blanket or chair on the lawn — each category with social distancing in place. All-time favorite movies dominate the summer lineup, including Clueless, Grease, Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar, Mean Girls and Dirty Dancing.

The setup will be at Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park with one screening per night at 8:45 p.m. and a second screening Friday and Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. Tickets range from $14.50–22.75, depending on the night of the week and the type of ticket.

Local food trucks, a full bar, and pre-movie games will allow you to create a memorable date night, whether it’s with someone you’re into into or a group of friends.

We’ll be there opening night to see Jennifer Lopez rise to stardom as she embodies Selena Quintanilla, so look the other way if you see us crying at the end.
