Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Category Is: Subtitles

Any movie that opens with Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody will always lure us in.

Whether we stick around for the whole things is another story.

But this week’s new movie, Dancing Queens (not to be confused with Netflix’s docuseries, Dancing Queen, starring Dallas’ own Alyssa Edwards) is the perfect little movie for a rainy day. However, now that rain’s out of the forecast for a bit, simply add it to your queue for the next time the skies open up and you need something to watch while folding laundry.

Netflix didn’t make this one available for download, otherwise we’d recommend it for in-flight viewing.

The Swedish import isn’t groundbreaking or entirely original with hints of Victor/Victoria and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, but it’s sweet and earnest regardless. And as you’d expect from any movie centered around drag queens, you’ll be treated to some zany characters, outrageous costumes and fun dance numbers.

Check out the trailer and decide for yourself, but despite our less-than-glowing review, we still have an odd soft spot for this little movie and hope it finds a little love.
