Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Putting The Fun In Funeral

We didn’t realize it until we started typing this sentence just how very much we miss seeing shows on Broadway.

Fortunately, we have the next-best thing: Uptown Players.

This Friday, they kick off two weekends of performances of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Fun Home. We had the privilege of seeing the original production on Broadway and we can’t wait to see what Uptown Players does with the incredible material.

Based on the graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel, the play tells the story of a girl named Alison at three different stages in her life as she recalls the complicated relationship she had with her father who died suddenly when she was young. It’s deeply heartbreaking and unexpectedly hilarious right when you need it most.

Praised as the first mainstream musical with a lesbian protagonist and also for its inventive storytelling techniques, Fun Home will give you all the feels.
