Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Brunch Of The Week: The Most Colorful Place In Town

Last weekend, we returned to our big, flamboyant roots and spent the weekend in the Oak Lawn gayborhood.

During our staycation adventure, we decided to only do activities within a few blocks of our hotel home base. Of course, it wouldn’t be a real weekend for us if our plans didn’t include brunch. So we ventured to the rainbow-hued Roy G’s at the heart of the Crossroads and settled in for a leisurely patio binge.

First of all, we loooooove the vibe of Roy G’s. We told owner Mariel Street when we were there just how much her place reminds us of weekends in San Diego in the Hillcrest neighborhood. There, like Roy G’s, the patios are filled with LGBTQ people laughing, drinking, and enjoying life in a completely safe space.

The drinks are stiff, the servers are cute (at least from the mask down!), and the food’s damn great. (Make sure to scroll through all the photos at the end.)

Plus, the prices can’t be beat for the quality and quantity of food served. Everything we tried was spectacular. Make sure to try the Knuckle Sandwich (a slightly spicy lobster roll) and the Biscuit Henny Benny (a Benedict-esque plate of biscuits, fried chicken, eggs and gravy).

We can’t wait to go back with a bunch of friends and really do some damage on a few mimosa towers and Bloody Mary pitchers.

And maybe a few extra French toast sammies.
