Brunch Of The Week: Nothing Like A Virgin

It only took us a year to finally make it to Commons Club for Drag Brunch.

But damn if it wasn’t worth the wait.

Hostess with the moistest, Jenni P (pictured above), keeps the raucous affair moving at a brisk pace so there’s never even the slightest chance of a dull moment. Working the room, her comedic talents shine as she reads bachelorettes and flirts with the male staff of the restaurant inside Virgin Hotels Dallas.

The shows take place at noon and 2:00 p.m. every first and third Sunday of the month and reservations always book up quickly for sell-out crowds eager to have some fun and French toast.

There’s no charge for the show that features multiple entertainers, but you must spend at least $50 per person to attend. Luckily, the food and drinks are top-notch and reaching the minimum happens faster and easier than you might expect.

Brisket hash, the seasonal quiche, the Cuban Monte Cristo and avocado toast with fresh lump crab all ranked high on our list of favorites. Cocktails are creative and potent, but you can also enjoy the brunch staple of bountiful mimosas starting at $35.

If you’re in a time crunch, book the noon show, which ends in time to clear out and clean up before the 2:00 p.m. show. If your schedule’s a little looser (like Jenni P.), the later show could yield a much longer experience. Last weekend, they were still dancing and cheering on an 82-year-old twerker well past 4:00 p.m. and the energy was insane.

Bring plenty of cash to tip the drag queens and prepare for one of the most fun Sunday Fundays in the city.
