Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Rockin’ Around The Hannukah Bush

December isn’t just about Christmas.

It’s true! We looked it up on Google!

In this part of the country, Jewish traditions often get overlooked (or at the very least overshadowed) because of some baby born in a barn or something a long, long time ago in a land far, far away.

But Uptown Players ensures that this year the Christian high holiday on its own can’t hold nine candles to Hanukkah with the hilarious holiday mashup, Oy Vey in a Manger starring the world’s favorite dragapella beautyshop quarter, The Kinsey Sicks.

Not only are they extremely talented, but they’re also cute out of drag, too. (We’ve seen one of them naked in Puerto Vallarta, but that’s another story for another day.)

The story of this very special production centers around Angel, Trixie, Winnie and Trampolina as they attempt to sell their famous manger before the bank forecloses on them. Jewish-Gentile shenanigans ensue, leaving you laughing in your seat as the foursome sing parodies including Lusty the Snowman, God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians, Soylent Night and Don’t Be Happy, Worry.

Spencer Brown, Je? Manabat, Nathan Marken and J.B. McLendon star in the musical extravaganza during two evening performances and a Sunday matinee, December 10-12, at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

We’ll be there with bells on (and maybe a few dreidels).
