Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Seniors Are Having A Moment

We’re all getting older.

Proof: You were younger before reading that last sentence.

If you’re more statistics-driven, however, it’s incredible to note that North Texas has more than 300,000 LGBT senior residents. And we’ll all be there some day, sooner than any of us would like.

That’s one of the main reasons the Coalition for Aging LGBT is such an important organization—and one we’re lucky to have to advocate on behalf of all the oldies-but-goodies among us.

This Saturday, Coalition for Aging LGBT hosts the FREE 5th Annual Summit on LGBT Aging at The Senior Source. The half-day event features a who’s-who of local leaders speaking on a variety of topics.

Rep. Jessica Gonzalez will speak on legislation. The Dallas Police Department will present a session on Self Defense for Older Adults. Texas Health’s Dr. Judy Lindenberg will speak on trans health issues. Resource Center’s Cece Cox will talk about LGBT senior housing (and a new affordable housing project right here in Dallas). Tony Vedda, CEO & President of the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce, will chat about the LGBTQ+ community (probably with some jazz hands thrown in for good measure). And The Senior Source’s Renae Perry will discuss available senior resources.

Included with your free registration: Breakfast and coffee from McDonald’s on Lemmon Avenue, garage parking and overflowing swag bags!

After two years away from public events, this will be a nice return to near-normal. Plus, it’s more important now than ever for North Texas’ LGBT seniors to come together and chart a course for the future.

All of ours.
