We’re not big fans of AT&T as a service provider. (Our complaints about them could fill up the entire Internet.)
But damn if we don’t love the AT&T Discovery District in Downtown Dallas. It’s become one of our favorite hangouts, even in the hot Texas summer heat.
One of our regular go-to spots since right before the Covid lockdowns is Jaxon Texas Kitchen & Beer Garden, especially now that we’ve tried their brunch. After walking out of a nearby restaurant because we waited nearly 20 minutes for a server and nearly 40 minutes total without a drop of drink or morsel of food, we popped into Jaxon. Boy, do we wish that had been our destination from the beginning.
Brunch here is just fun.
It’s designed for a communal experience with friends because many of the huge dishes perfect for sharing, from chilaquiles and sourdough chicken fried steak to an everything bagel with smoked salmon and whipped cream cheese.
Even the $30 Big Ol’ Mimosa shouldn’t be tackled alone. (But we won’t judge you if you do.)
Our favorite option, however, can be found in the picture at the top of this story. The taco platter for four people (or you can take a date and get the version for two) features everything you need to make your own killer breakfast tacos. Smoked brisket, scrambled eggs, pico, salsa, guacamole, pinto beans, queso and Yukon potatoes come piled on a board with a bunch of tortillas.
Wrap up things with a plate of French toast with macerated berries and whipped cream, then pair it with a Kickin’ Ass & Taking Names, a tequila-and-cold-brew cocktail that’ll fuel you for the rest of your Saturday or Sunday afternoon on the town.
Because caffeine and tequila are one of our favorite couplings ever.
