At the stroke of midnight, we celebrated the arrival of February with a double shot of extra-chilled tequila. (We kept it out in the ice storm overnight and yum!)
We were so excited to toast the end of Dry January, one of the worst months of the year for us.
Oh wait, we kept drinking the whole time. So maybe it wasn’t that bad after all.
Regardless, it’s officially Wet February and whether you’re easing into a month of drinking after 31 days off—or you’re like us and you never stopped—there’s something about a good, aged tequila that warms us from the inside out. That’s something we could all use in Dallas right about now.
Unless we’re making margaritas, we typically lean toward a reposado or añejo tequila poured over a giant ice cube to slowly sip while we watch our stories on TV. (And remember—always, always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS only drink 100% blue agave tequilas. The others will give you a terrible hangover.)
We received several bottles of tequila over the last month to sample and we’ve rounded up three of our new favorite tequilas (four if you include this story on Casa Dragones from November)—from everyday price points to celebratory bottles for special occasions.

Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia was the first-ever Extra Añejo tequila ever released and by far our favorite in the Cuervo portfolio. Since 1995, they’ve enlisted the help of artists with Mexican ties to design a new collector’s box each year. The 2023 box has been officially unveiled and it comes from artists Rolando Flores and Gabriel Cázares of the Mexico-based Tercerunquinto Collective.

Founded by tequila lovers Pablo Antinori and Josh Irving, Dallas-based Socorro Tequila offers a premium experience at a moderate price point, which we love. Plus, with their #caseforacase program, they donate a case of water to orphanages, nursing homes and other communities within Mexico for every case of their tequila sold.
Suggested Retail Price: $37.49, 750ml

Another incredible Dallas-based brand, Osadía Tequila was created by Scott Everett as a player in the small batch, premium tequila space. Osadía’s charitable mission is in partnership with Everett’s S2 Foundation, which provides scholarships to empower young entrepreneurs. And we’re even more devoted because they have us thinking about pool season already (see photo at top of story).
