Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Brunch Of The Moment: The Urge To Splurge

Sweetie, darling, get your hands on some sweets. Stat.

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but frosting is a vitally important food group that should be considered for that morning meal.

Especially if it’s during brunch, because brunch and indulgence go hand in hand.

We’ve been living in the gayborhood temporarily while house repairs are underway, so we’ve taken the opportunity to revisit some of the places we don’t get to as often living miles away.

That’s why we’ve been loving Crickles and Co. Not only does its location make it easy to carb-load before Sunday Funday at the bars, but the restaurant’s Brunch All Day Every Day policy also makes us giggle gaily with glee.

Or put a smile on our face at the very least.

The Denton import has been open for a few years, but it’s really become an Oak Lawn neighborhood staple with consistently great food served to a legion of happy customers and devoted fans of its muffins, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and cookies. Not to mention egg dishes and lunchy sandwiches.

Crickles and Co offers a variety of omelets (including a build-your-own option), breakfast sandwiches on your choice of bread (we suggest buttery croissants or biscuits if you’re going to do it right), as well as pancakes and waffles.

Our go-tos are usually breakfast tacos, available in a DIY version. But we can’t even think about making those kinds of decisions when two of their chef creations are perfect.

The California taco features egg, turkey bacon, baby spinach, avocado, caramelized onion, sun-dried tomato and feta cheese. And if you like spice, the Touchdown taco with egg, cheddar cheese and a bacon-wrapped jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese has a surprising kick.

A full-service bar (complete with Bloody Marys and mimosas by the glass or carafe), as well as a variety of specialty espresso drinks means you won’t go thirsty, sober or un-caffeinated, either.

So when you’re sitting down to your weekly brunch-planning Skype session with the gang, consider Crickles and Company this weekend.

Or next Tuesday at noon if you’re so inclined.
